Diplomatic handshake
The Prime Minister and his Turkish counterpart reaffirmed brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Islamabad, 13 June 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today received a telephone call from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye. The leaders held a wide-ranging discussion on bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

The Prime Minister conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the people of Pakistan and reaffirmed the unique fraternal relationship between the two nations. Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation across trade, investment, defence and people-to-people exchange.

Trade and investment

The two sides took note of progress on the bilateral Strategic Economic Framework signed in 2024, and agreed to accelerate work on doubling annual two-way trade volumes within three years. The Prime Minister invited Turkish companies to participate in upcoming privatisation and renewable energy tenders.

Regional cooperation

The leaders exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and reiterated their shared commitment to a just and lasting peace consistent with United Nations resolutions. They also agreed to coordinate at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts.

Follow-up

The Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Turkish Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at a mutually convenient date. The invitation was accepted with appreciation. Foreign Ministers of both countries will undertake preparatory consultations.
